Waiheke Island Wedding – Ashleigh + Mike
What a way to kick off the the 2018 wedding season. Ashleigh + Mike’s Waiheke Island wedding perfectly reflected them as a couple. Laid back, beautiful and oh so effortlessly cool. I’d met up with the guys a few weeks before in Auckland and I knew that this one would be right up my street. They made sure to focus on all of the important stuff, having the ceremony and reception in one place (and what a place “The Red Shed” is!) so they could maximise the time spent with their friends and families. This is something we try to recommend to all our couples!
As is often the case with best laid plans and weddings, a few last minute changes (and I mean last minute!) were called for thanks to the not so cooperative New Zealand Summer. Mike and his groomsmen spent the best part of the morning moving furniture around to have the ceremony indoors, in between a few well earned bottles of beer. Ashleigh and her girls had what I can only assume were some of the best views on the island in an amazing house that Mike built! Talk about keeping it personal.
The rest of the day was a blur of off road/broken down taxi’s, barefoot climbs up some pretty sketchy terrain, some of the best dance moves in all of New Zealand and most importantly, two loved up souls surrounded by their nearest and dearest. This is how to do weddings. All of the good stuff in spades. Thanks for having me you guys!
Let’s do it again some time. Get in contact to check our availability for 2020, message to see if I’m free on your date
Big hugs and thank you’s to my buds over at Chasewild for making this one happen and to the team at Narrative for help with putting the blog together!
