Borgo di Tragliata Wedding, Rome – Emma + Johnny
Without question, one of the best things about doing what we do, is the connections and friendships we build with our couples.
Emma + Johnny’s Rome Borgo di Tragliata Wedding not only allowed us to spend some quality time with them and their friends and family but afforded me that opportunity while doing what I love, travelling. A weekend spent surrounded by good food and even better people set against the rolling hills of the Italian countryside. I don’t know about you but that is a pretty friggin’ special combination.
Two of life’s good, nay, great ones, Emma + Johnny could not have been more welcoming or gracious. And by God, these guys know how to party! It’s no shame that most couples feel some wedding burnout during the dance floor goodness but these two (I guess powered by all those Italian carbs, ahh carbs!) were partying hard, all the way through to 6am with a hearty contingent made up of no less than the (local) village people and a gimp #gimpwedding.
I managed to make it to 3:30am before I downed tools and swapped my camera for a nightcap shot (read, treble shot of whiskey, thanks Johnny) before leaving the guys to tear up the dance floor and drink the bar dry some more. How they managed to look every bit as good at breakfast at 10am the next morning is something I’m still left scratching my head about!
This is the beauty of destination weddings, as a documentary photographer I get to immerse myself with the couple much more than I usually can on the day of the wedding and it also allows them to get used to being in front of the camera the night before, not to mention having my bake around!
Emma + Johnny, thank you so, so much for being a pair of total legends. It was a total pleasure to be out their with you all and way too much fun to call “work” ;)
